Gilmorton Village Ballot Result In
03/03/2009
Villagers in Gilmorton turned out in significant numbers to vote overwhelmingly against the Wind Farm at Low Spinney. 88% of the votes cast were in opposition to Broadview's plans.
Members of AWFALS are delighted that the recent village ballot that took place in Gilmorton - organised and run by the Parish Council - shows incredible opposition to the plans of Broadview Energy to blight our lives with four 125 m wind turbines.
The results were as follows:
- Against - 335
- Undecided - 13
- For - 32
The numbers of people who voted represent something like 85% of the population of the village (the Parish Council will confirm the exact number, but this is their initial estimate). This is considerably higher than the normal turnout for ballots such as the general election. This clearly shows the
depth of feeling in the village. The fact that 88% are against and
less than 8.5% are in favour is an overwhelming indictment of the plan and Broadview and our local politicians should take note - this issue has aroused more feeling than any election.
